Collection Notice — Your Mate Berty
DRAFT v2 for Owner approval · 16 October 2026 · fact-checked against the code
This notice tells you what personal information Your Mate Berty collects, why, and who it goes to. Our full Privacy Policy has more detail.
Who we are
Your Mate Berty is run by Bonnibel Pty Ltd (ABN 88 672 918 277), 447 Honour Ave, Sherwood QLD 4075, Australia. Contact us at berty@yourmateberty.com.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address, how you sign in (password, Google or Apple), and your confirmation that you are 18 or over. If you choose to add them: your name, a profile photo, your home area, language and time zone.
- What you give Berty: your messages, voice transcripts, photos (including when and roughly where they were taken), documents, notes, to-dos and Streams, and the names you give to people in your photos. Berty listens to your voice live but never keeps the recording; only the words you send are kept.
- Your calendar, if you connect Google or Outlook: your connected address and your events from yesterday to 90 days ahead, so Berty can show your schedule and add events you ask for. They are cleared when you disconnect.
- Your email, if you connect it: email is read-only. Berty keeps the sender, subject and a short preview of your recent emails for 7 days so he can brief you, plus anything you choose to file or ask him about in chat. Full messages and attachments are never stored, and Berty never acts on your email by himself.
- Connected accounts: a secure access key from Google or Microsoft, stored encrypted, so Berty can keep reading what you've connected.
- Your Pack: the email addresses of people you invite (deleted once the invite is used or expires), your Pack messages and attachments, and the Streams you choose to share.
- Other people: if you add a trusted contact, their name and phone number or email. Senders' names and addresses also arrive with your email.
- Wellbeing: if Berty shows you safety support, we record that it was shown (not what you said), so he can respond with care.
- Payments, when you subscribe: your plan and whether it is active. Card details go straight to Stripe or Apple; we never see them.
- Usage and technical information: how often you use voice, web search and Berty's replies (to manage limits and costs), and error logs that don't identify you. Our hosting providers' logs record IP addresses and device information for security.
- The early list: if you join on our website, your email address and when you joined.
Some of what you tell Berty may be sensitive (for example, about your health or family). We only use it to help you, and only because you chose to share it.
Where we get it
Mostly from you. We also receive information from Google, Microsoft or Apple (when you sign in or connect an account, with your permission), from a Pack member who invites you (your email address), and from Stripe or Apple (your subscription status).
Why we collect it
To run your account and give you Berty's help: replies, briefings, reminders and sorting your life into Streams. Also to keep you and others safe (including showing emergency contacts if you seem to be in crisis), to review reported Pack messages, to manage usage limits, to take payments, to answer support requests, to protect the service from misuse, and to meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell your information and we do not show ads. We don't use your content to train AI models, and neither does Amazon Web Services, which runs Berty's AI.
Who we share it with
- Amazon Web Services, in Australia (Sydney and Melbourne): Berty's AI thinking (Bedrock), turning your voice into words (Transcribe) and reading your Briefing aloud (Polly).
- Supabase, Sydney: where your account and content are stored.
- DigitalOcean, Sydney: runs our website and web app.
- Resend: sends our emails (sign-in codes, invites, reminders, Pack notices and early-list confirmations). Its servers are in Japan.
- Brave Search (United States): when Berty looks something up, the words of your question (and your home area, for local questions) are sent, never your name or account.
- Websites Berty opens for you: when Berty reads a link or page, that site sees our server's address and the page asked for, not who you are.
- Google, Microsoft and Apple: for signing in and the accounts you connect.
- Stripe and Apple: to take payments when you subscribe. They may process information overseas.
- Your Pack: members see only what you choose to share with them.
- Reported messages: if someone reports a Pack message, our moderator at Bonnibel reads that message to decide what to do. Reports are deleted 90 days after they're resolved.
- Authorities: when the law requires it.
Google user data
Your Mate Berty's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
If you don't give us information
You need an email address and to confirm you're 18 or over. Everything else is optional; without it, some features won't work (for example, Berty can't brief you on email you haven't connected).
Your rights
In Me you can update your details, see what Berty knows about you, and delete your account. For anything else, including a copy of your information, email berty@yourmateberty.com.
